A Note on Professional Integrity.

IN: Business 101

Let me ask you a question: Does your word MEAN anything?

Are you a woman of your word? A man of your word? A professional of your word?

In my business interactions with people, I’ve been left shocked–disgusted, actually–at the lack of professional integrity.

I’ve hired contractors who disappear mid-project, clients who drop off the face, employees who don’t do their job, colleagues who kiss each others’ asses to manufacture testimonials, bosses (once upon a time), who make out with employees (while married), and people, in general, who simply never do what they say they’re going to do.

This is unacceptable.

Do yourself a favor: Do the right thing professionally. With no exceptions or bullshit made up stories.

You know what the right thing is.

Whether it’s going to take you more time, cause you an inconvenience, be a burden, or make you hate your life for all of 2 days–YOU DO WHAT’S RIGHT.

That’s called having morals.

And morals are important, because if you don’t have any morals, you don’t have any value in this world.

And if you don’t have any value?

Then get the fuck out of our way.

Because this world?

Will not tolerate you.

…Or your lazy incompetence.

The successful people of this world didn’t get there because they blew off their responsibilities and played Candy Crush all the live long day while procrastinating everything that really mattered.

Successful people got there because they didn’t blow off their responsibilities–

—even when they wanted to.
