What if I told you I was giving you your very own daily column, where you could write about anything you wanted?
What if I told you I was giving you your own TV show, where you’d be the star?
What if I told you I was putting you on the radio, where you could talk about the things that mattered to you every week?
And what if I told you that we were going to do fancy photo shoots, and have a fancy Instagram account, and get the world excited about you and your ideas?
That all sounds pretty exhilarating, doesn’t it?
The good news: You can have all of this tomorrow.
The bad? No one’s going to give it to you.
Too often, we’re sitting around with our thumbs up our asses, waiting for someone to notice us; to point us out of a crowd. We somehow think that other people have more power than us to make our dreams happen, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
Nobody gave me permission to start writing this column every single day. (Save us all, am I right?) There was no Committee of True and Actual Greatness, as I call it, that took a vote and said: Yes, Ash is good enough to be doing this, we’ll allow it.
As it turns out, the trick to following your dreams?
Is actually following them.
And the trick to doing what you want?
Is doing.
